A month of frustration

Just like any man, I’m stubborn.  I hate to admit it but its true.  But a month ago, I had to shut up and do what I had to do (after much pressure from the wife).

One Sunday morning, I awoke with numbness in my face.  It was pretty bad but it was only part of my face and the left part of my tongue, mouth, lip, chin and cheek.  The man in me kicked in and said, “Oh, it’ll go away.”  After kicking and screaming about calling a doctor, my wife finally convinced me to do so.  Needless to say, it would be a month before I got into the Neurologist’s office.  It wasn’t until a week and a half after I got the numbing sensation, that things got worse.  I had a stressful day at work and the numbness got 20x worse.  I ended up going to the emergency room cause I got scared for the first time in my life (lie..not the first but when it comes to my health, yes it is).  After a CT scan and some other tests, it all came back negative.  My dentist gave me his .02 and he said to wear a mouth guard when I go to sleep because it sounds like it’s a nerve that’s being irritated by clenching and/or grinding of my teeth.  Ever since then, I’ve been feeling better.

Lets fast forward to last week.  I went to see my neurologist and she ordered some MRIs.  One was for my brain to see how those little hamsters were doing in my head and the other was for Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (aka: TMJ).  The MRIs came back negative and the only thing that can be determined is that it’s an irritated nerve that will heal on its own.  This conclusion was made because my symptoms have gotten better over the last few weeks.

So the moral of the story is that I should continue to being stubborn.  It would of saved me some money on co-payments..lol.  I’m kidding.  But when it does come to my health, I sure won’t be hesitating to get help when I need it.  The last scare was good enough for me to take this real seriously.

Lets just hope things get back to the way they were cause the numbing sensation is starting to annoy me. Lol.

I finally went live with my new site!

My EDU site was up for renewal and since I'm no longer in school, I had to switch it up to a Pro site.  Needless to say I was worried about it all.  I've been with Live Books for some time now.  I've never had an issue with them so I couldn't see myself leaving them.

But I'm finally LIVE! WOO HOO! lol.  I'll be posting up some new images soon from my recent engagement shoot that was done in DC! So stay tuned!

New site? Updated blog? Is it possible?!

I'm back. I've said that a few times before, but this time, I'm going to try and keep my blog updated. Ever since graduating from school, I've worked on a few weddings and have been doing portraits.

Make sure to follow my blog for updates! :)

Long overdue?

I think so, it's been months since I last wrote on my blog. So much has changed since then. For example, I FINALLY GRADUATED CDIA!! WOO HOO!! It feels good to finish school. I learned ALOT being there!

To add to the excitement, I also attended WPPI in Las Vegas this month! A contest was held at school that asked us to write a paragraph as to why we feel we should attend WPPI. Well I was one of the winners and Moshe Zusman of Moshe Zusman Wedding Photography, LLC got me to Vegas for free!! AHHHHH!!!! My first time to WPPI and to Vegas! I met a great group of people and it was an experience I will never forget.

Now I will be focusing on my future career as a wedding photographer. I can only keep my fingers crossed at this point.

Exciting Module

This Wedding Module has been fun! Did two engagement shoots which turned out great! We took one both couples down to K St along the waterfront in Georgetown. Our mockup wedding is on September 19th! Can't wait for that.

But lately, I've been feeling excited, scared and discouraged about the whole photography thing. I knew when I got into this that its an expensive hobby/career. I want to be able to shoot weddings but unfortunately, I don't have two good cameras or a very good set of lenses. With money being tight, I don't see myself doing weddings for a while. I may ask around or even my current teacher to see if I can be a 3rd shooter. That way I can get the feel for things and still not have to worry about having extra equipment.

I guess time will tell. At least for now I can do portraits and location shoots when I have time. Next module is about the business side of weddings. Well business in general because that can apply to anything else.

Missing?

So I've been MIA for a while. I've gone through the Web Marketing class and the Photo Illustration Class. Now I'm taking the Wedding modules. Its pretty much 2 modules of shooting, marketing, etc for weddings.

Our teacher is Moshe Zusman. I'm real excited about these modules! Coming into school I wanted to concentrate on weddings and portraits. I've been through portraits and now I'm finally taking weddings.

Our first shoot is on Wednesday and it will be an engagement session. I'll be back soon! Hopefully I don't go MIA again. I've been just too busy with work, life and school.

Time went by fast!

So we finished class with Sonny. I learned a whole lot about stock photography and I really like the way its supposed to look. There's a certain look to it that doesn't make it look setup.

We shot a set of twins and we did about 4 different shots and them came out well. You don't always need a whole studio setup to make a picture look good.

Now I'm in Website Marketing. I took a mini vacation and missed the first day of class. But I picked up on what I missed last night. So far I've emailed 3 photographers regarding their marketing techniques/plans. Hopefully, I'll get a response back from at least 2 of them.

This module we will create/update our websites and create a database of 50 potential clients. We shall see how it goes.
