What an amazing night

Last night I was invited by Moshe Zusman Photography Studios to photograph an amazing show at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. Fashion for Paws is an event that is held every year to help raise money for the Washington Humane Society.

Let me say that this was my first time photographing a fashion show. I walked in there not knowing what to expect. Upon my arrival, I started to see some familiar faces. I bumped into a good friend Sebastian Podesta and one of my old teachers Zaid Hamid. So far so good. I make a quick round around the venue like I would normally do anywhere I go to get a feel for where to go, stand, photograph, etc. After making my round, I decided to stand in front of the runway to "call my spot" before all the photographers came in. Glad I did cause I got the "sweet spot".

Once the show started, my nerves calmed down because I was there, doing what I had to do and there was no more time to be nervous. Once the show started, I started to look at the models and I realized that I've seen a lot of them before. Many I've seen on websites, in event pictures, local TV, local print, etc. I never thought I'd photograph these people and here I am doing exactly that! I've come a long way since 2007. And it wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the love and support of family and friends. I never mention "colleagues" because they've grown to be my friends. Friends that I know I can count on.

And now, the most important part of the post, the pictures (this is a taste of what I have. For the full 170 images, please check my facebook fan page "Wilson Roa Photography"). Enjoy!

Its taken way to long.

I haven't posted since November and that is wayyyy to long to go without posting an entry!

Well today I had a photo session with a repeat client of mine. First it started with a group of artists being photographed in the studio and now, its on to his son.

Joshua is only 7 weeks old and is the cutest little baby around! I think he didn't like me invading his home to bother him for pictures because he cried..and cried and cried. To get him to show us his wonderful smile, we had to get very creative. His parents fed him, again..lol. After that, he was just a different baby!! He smiled, smiled some more and smiled more than ever! Hey, I would get the same if someone just fed me. :)

And here I present to you the baby of the hour, Joshua.

Katie and Jonattan's Engagement Session

I had the pleasure of working with Zhia Victoria Photography on this engagement session.  Katie and Jonattan are getting married in June in DC.  This down to earth couple was so easy to work with and it truly felt like we were just hanging out with friends.  We started down by the World War II Memorial in DC and then worked out way to Chevy Chase to continue our session at the restaurant where they first met.  Many thanks to Bambule for being nice enough to let us shoot in their establishment.
